Transitioning to Digital Education: A UK Case Study

Digital transition helps UK institution grow reputation and student numbers

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) introduced VitalSource eTextbooks as part of a broader transformation and modernisation. In the last four years, they have successfully transitioned from traditional distance learning provider to digital pioneer. More than 4,000 students in over 100 countries now study their wholly online, accredited courses at postgraduate, undergraduate and apprenticeship levels.

Staff and students reflect on the journey, identifying the key challenges, critical success factors, and benefits.

“ … digital is a better way of teaching in terms of the impact on the students and their learning.”

Jane Ballantyne, Programme Leader, BSC Undergraduate Surveying, UCEM
